I had protected sex with my boyfriend (Jan 21) and he pulled out with the condom on each time but the first. None of them broke, we checked. Am I being too paranoid? Should I get Plan B? I ovulate tomorrow so that's why I am more worried (Jan 22). I'm just worrying about any of the other pre-cautions.

How do you know you're ovulating today specifically? A lot of women find it tricky to pin-point the exact day they ovulate (especially ahead of time) even when they're intentionally tracking it. Regardless, sperm can survive several days inside your body, so even if you do ovulate a little later than you think, there's still a chance that you could get pregnant if any of 'em managed to slip through.

If you're really worried, you certainly can take Plan B as a preventative measure - but remember, it gets less effective the longer you wait to take it. Also, if you are in fact ovulating today and a sperm does happen to meet your egg and fertilize it, it's already too late - Plan B does not work as an abortion pill.

As an aside, I would strongly suggest you talk to your doctor about going on birth control, or ask them about other kinds of contraceptives they would recommend for you to pair with condoms if you feel at all uncomfortable with using only one line of defence. This will give you some more peace of mind, so you aren't worrying about whether or not you need to run out and get Plan B the next time you two have sex.

This is one detail everyone misses; If you are over 165 pounds, Plan B will not work. If you aren't; great! It should work if you take it.

Plan B has some nasty side effects too (headaches, nausea, changes to your cycle, vomiting, ect) but it's still worth it if your think you had a leak.

Plan B is NOT 100% effective though. It says it right on their website. You could be paranoid, are you using any other form of birth control? Just know your options.

True, it's just like all other types of birth control. There's always a change it won't work (Like, %5 of the time).

A) If you're that worried, it can't hurt to take it. B) If you don't like using condoms EVERY time, you need to look into birth control if that's how worried you are about being pregnant. The depo provera shot or implanon are both great options if you have unprotected sex every now and then, they're both 99% effective and non-hormonal. With both of those, you also don't have to worry about remembering to take it everyday, which is where most girls fail. The implanon is removed every 3 or 5 years (I forget which), and the depo shot is only injected every 12 weeks and is usually a nurses visit.

Condoms, when used correctly, have a 98% of preventing pregnancy. The fact he also pulled out while using them is even more efficient. The pull-out method is around 60-80% of preventing pregnancy (without a condom on).

Plan B is very effective as well, and it has over a 92% chance of preventing pregnancy when taken within the first 12 hours. The percentage goes down after it has been 24 hours. You can still take it up to 3 days after unprotected sex/if your BC failed. I am sure you are fine.

I am more worried about the effects Plan B will have on your body. Remember, it can cause serve mood-swings, late/early period, heavy/lighter period, irregular cycles, sore breasts, cramps, nausea, vomiting etc. A lot of women do not experience any of these symptoms. It is basically a whole month of birth control pills in one dosage, so it will have a lot of hormone change in your body. It can take 1-3 months to fully flush out. Good luck!
